Central Mackenzie will now face McDoom/Diamond in NCBL semifinal round

Western Union Central Mackenzie became the final team to make it into the semifinal round of the National Basketball Community League (NCBL) with a 61-54 win over Kwakwani last Saturday evening at the Mackenzie Sports Club Hard Courts in Linden.

Playing at most three players short due to some of their players leaving for Antigua, Kawakwani suffered a horrible first quarter, scoring only two points as their offense was severely slowed by the size of  Central Mackenzie. Mackenzie on the hand used the advantage of their size to rebound well opening an early double digit lead in the first half.

While there were a few substitutions short and undersized, Kwakwani ran the fast break well against the much slower Central Mackenzie team, cutting the lead to just a four-point deficit.

However, the size and rebounding ability of the Western Union-sponsored team was simply too much for the depleted Kwakwani squad to overcome as the game ended with Kwakwani being booted from the competition.

Meanwhile Western Union Mackenzie will now face McDoom/Diamond in the semifinal round while Wismar will take on Western Union Plaisance/Vryheids Lust in the other seminal when the tournament continues this weekend.
