The Next Level Sports Club will stage its fourth annual Inter-Corporation Domino Competition at Banks DIH Limited, Thirst Park, and Georgetown later this month.
The two-day tournament, which was launched earlier this month, will be held on July 27 and 28 and will be contested on a two in one out basis under the rules of the Guyana Domino Association.
The first place prize will be sponsored by beverage giant, Banks DIH Limited under the R1 Vodka brand.
Since its launching, companies that have indicated their intention
Of providing sponsorship include TNT dominoes team which has indicated that it sponsor the second place cash prize and trophy while Digicel Guyana Limited has committed to providing trophies and medals for the third, fourth and fifth placed teams. Also on board is Steve’s Jewellery of Church Street which will donate one gold chain for the Most Valuable Player. Nigel’s Supermarket, on board from the beginning of the tournaments has already donated a packed hamper for the recipient of the first double love in the tourney. Other sponsors and participants include Kings Jewellery World, H. The previous inter-corporation dominoes tournament which was held February 3-5th this year at the Banks DIH Sports Club and had a record attendance of 55 teams.
That tournament was won by F&H Printing Establishment who are now the holders of the first Lien Trophy presented by Banks DIH Limited. This time around the organizers are aiming much higher as more teams have indicated their participation.
The prizes are as follows first place $175,000, a trophy and nine medals, second place team $100,000, a trophy and nine medals; third place team $75,000, a trophy and nine medals; fourth place team, $50,000 and a trophy, fifth place $25,000, one pack dominoes, Most Valuable Player: one gold chain, first double love: one hamper from Nigel’s Supermarket, first love in finals, two weeks free workout at Curtis Gym. The registration fee is $9,000 per team with $2000 from each team’s registration going to one of three charitable homes.
The tournament commences on July 27 at 1.30pm.
Registration can be done at via organizers on telephone numbers 223-6500, 697-2929 and 629-8128. The deadline for registration is Friday. The first 30 teams that register will receive a gift.
Ministries and corporation are invited to field up to three (3) teams of no more than nine players per team for this event.
