Man remanded over Guyhoc Park gold chain gunpoint robbery

Joseph Quamina was yesterday remanded to prison after being charged with the July 13 Guyhoc Park gunpoint robbery involving a gold chain valued $500,000.

The allegation against Quamina is that on the day in question, together with others, being armed with a gun, he robbed Neville Dundas of one gold chain valued $500,000.

The accused denied the charge when it was read to him by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The matter will be called again on July 20.

According to reports, around 9:10 pm last Friday,  five men were seen in a car circling the home of a retired army officer at Guyhoc Park.

According to an eyewitness, two other men, who were dropped off by the car several houses away, “come up and scale this big man fence and start demanding money and gold.”

He said that the man was at the time sitting on the patio of his house with friends when the incident occurred. The two men, one of whom brandished a gun, relieved the man of his gold chain and other pieces of jewellery and an undisclosed amount of money.

No one was injured during the robbery and the car later sped off.
