Guyana netball team loses to USA

Guyana’s netball tea managed to record its highest number of points in the Americas Federation of Netball Association (AFNA) tournament but the points scored were not enough to land them a win against the United States of America team and they went under by 25 goals to 82.

Guyana’s 25 goals were scored from 38 attempts in comparison to the 178 attempts by the Americans.

In an attempt to secure its first victory against one of the weaker teams in the tournament the Guyanese missed a number of goal-scoring opportunities mainly because of bad passes some of which were intercepted by the Americans.

Players like Tasnica Lovell and Robyn Thomas, however tried their best. Lovell returned to action after being forced from the court through injury but bounced back into action when another player was injured in the third quarter. Guyana yesterday played with three injured players but won over the crowd with their determination to put up a fight.

Guyana will rest today, but will be back on the court against the Canadians tomorrow.
