(Trinidad Express) President of the China Society, Yung Gen Siu, has sent a letter to the Chinese community warning about the inadequate security measures in place in this country.
The letter comes on the heels of the brutal murder of Chinese couple Yang Jian Hua and Wu Xia Hua.
The couple were fatally shot inside their family’s businessplace, the Tiger Restaurant in Cunupia, on July 12.
“Because of this tragic and brutal attack by the perpetrators, the children lost both of their parents and the happy family was ruined within a day. What a tragedy,” the letter stated.
“Currently, the public security is inadequate in Trinidad and Tobago. The cruel robberies and murders keep happening frequently,” the letter stated.
The letter warned the Chinese community to always be vigilant and called on each of the community’s members to be their brothers’ keeper.
“I wish to remind my Chinese brothers and sisters here, we must always be vigilant. We have to unite together against crime. We should care for and help each other,” it stated.
“Our advice to the small Chinese businesses and people is to take extra security precautions by installing burglar proofing, security cameras with monitoring capabilities to get some useful clues to assist the police to apprehend the perpetrators, keep less cash on the premises, keep valuables such as expensive jewelry under lock and key when not in use, avoid walking alone at night especially in unsafe areas, try not to arrive at home or leave for work at exactly the same time every day as suspecting criminals watch for routine, and where necessary close business earlier,” the letter stated.
“We should try our best to ensure the safety and security of the country and let justice prevail.”
