Richard Barrow of Smythfield, New Amsterdam, was shot and injured to his left arm by the police during efforts to arrest him, the police force said yesterday. The shooting occurred at about 730am yesterday. According to police, Barrow was wanted for questioning in relation to a series of armed robberies and escape from lawful custody.
He is currently under guard at the New Amsterdam Hospital.
Meanwhile, police also reported that a man was arrested at Fort Wellington, West Coast Berbice, after he was found in a car with an unlicensed 12-gauge shotgun during a stop and search exercise on Thursday afternoon. He remains in police custody.
