Nadata Vancooten, winner of the Feel the Beat Dance Competition has put her one million dollars prize money not only in the bank to start her own private dance school but towards the needs of others.
On Sunday July 15, Nadata held a thanksgiving ceremony in her Albouystown neighbourhood and invited all the nearby children and their parents to her home for food, snacks and treats as a way of giving back. She mentioned that the activity was a way of showing her appreciation to this great nation and acknowledging that when you achieve good things in life, you must always give thanks to God.
“Even more it is a great way to show the young children that there is more to life than just wanting things,” she said.
She said she picked the location because it was something she had always wanted to do her entire life.
She now has bigger plans for the future. She said, “I feel there is much more to do and I am happy with my position, it is more to me like setting an example to show that with hard work there is always success.”
Nadata is not only seen as the reigning queen of dance but she is now a role model to many aspiring youths. When asked how she felt to be constantly in the spotlight, she said that she was thankful for everything and happy to give back, she also looks forward to what is ahead for her. “I am loving the way dance is being highlighted in Guyana.
I am comfortable with everything and glad to be the number 1 dancer and role model to others. I am willing to do what I have to do to show my appreciation to the whole country,” she concluded.
