(Trinidad Guardian) Colombia is in need of 25,000 English teachers. Colombian Ambassador to T&T Alfredo Riascos made the announcement on the occasion of the celebration of the National Day of the Republic of Colombia on Friday in Newton. Addressing guests at the function, Riascos said, “We have just received Minister of Trade stating that we need at the announcement from our least 25,000 English teachers. It is obvious that we do not have sufficient educators in Colombia and we will need your support for this.”
Riascos said he was sure that T&T will need Spanish teachers also. The objective, Riascos said, was to get teachers from T&T and the rest of the Caribbean. “We also have been arranging scientific and educational agreements with the University of the West Indies with the support of Prof Clement Sankat, directors and deans.” Riascos said the most important issue today was bilingualism.
