Dear Editor,
The Region Two Management Committee is very concerned that after the National and Regional Elections, neither the Leader, the Chairman or any member of the National Management Committee has seen it fit to visit this region, despite several requests made by us, and promises that visits would be made.
I must say that in February, Mr Trevor Williams, MP, did undertake a visit to the Onderneeming Sand Pit, but we in this region had no prior knowledge of it. I personally as an AFC representative in the region, was surprised and even felt slighted. Mr Edwards, the General Secretary visited on April 7, for the purpose of conducting the RMC election, a visit that lasted about two hours.
It is however interesting to note that during this corresponding period, the ruling party, the PPP had several ministers of government and also parliamentarians and senior party officials doing political work in this region. The APNU also had its leader and other members of parliament visiting and holding a public meeting, explaining the budget cuts and its benefits, but our party was noticeably absent,
While it is public knowledge that the ruling party has access to state finances and other resources, I honestly believe that the AFC could have done better in this area.
It must be noted that the AFC was the only political party in this region that saw an increase of almost four hundred votes at the last elections. In the case of the other parties, the PPP got almost two thousand votes less and APNU about seven hundred votes less.
While we the activists have been trying our best to maintain that momentum, the public which voted for us wants to see their leaders in the flesh grounding with them.
Region Two was not represented at the last National Executive Committee Meeting. Despite the RMC‘s willingness to sent its representative to the last NEC. meeting at no cost to the national body, the elected regional representative was refused, and no reasonable explanation was given. We the members of the RMC of Region Two who were elected on April 7, 2012, an election that was requested and presided over by the General Secretary, are respectfully asking Mr Edwards for a written explanation.
Yours faithfully,
Archie W Cordis
Chairman
RMC Region 2
