Who So Ever, owned by Dennis DeRoop of the Simply Royal Stables and ridden by Drepaul, on Sunday won the feature `B’ class 1700M event
when the Norman Singh Memorial Turf and Digicel held a one-day horse race meet at No6 Bel Air, West Coast Berbice.
The win was worth $2m and a trophy.
Who So Ever made an early break but was caught by the pack, following which an intense battle was fought before Who So Ever prevailed.
The fast finishing Face the Fire was second with Perfect Circle and Grande De Roja, rounding out the top four.
Settle in Seattle of the Shariff Stables, ridden by Jamaican Brian Blake, romped home with the $1M and trophy for a gate to pole victory in the three-year-old Guyana and West Indian-bred horses 1700M event while Majestic, also of the Shariff Stables with Blake again on board, scored a convincing victory in the E class 1200M gallop, taking home the $700,000 first prize.
The two-year-old 1000M event for Guyana and West Indies-bred horses was won by Gold Rush of the Jagmohan Stables.
The win was worth $600,000.
Bridal Stone Corner of The Marcel Crawford Stables won the G and Lower event over a distance of 1200m which was worth $500,000 and a trophy while the two-year-old Guyana and West Indies-bred horses race was won by She’s So Special.
A dead heat was the result of the I class 1200M event with Mona Lisa of the Crawford Stables and Little Tip Top of the Singh’s Stables unable to be separated at the finish.
The Crawford and Shariff’s Stables with two wins each were declared the top stables while Senior Council Marcel Crawford was adjudged the top trainer. Blake, with three wins, was the champion jockey.
