The Sophia Artists Group is hosting its fourth annual Exhibition of Art and Craft at the Pattensen Multipurpose Community Centre August month end.
In a press release the group said the exhibition is being done in collaboration with the Centre’s management and will be held from August 24-26 under the theme ‘Harnessing our Culture, Showcasing our talent: A Tribute to Trevor Thornhill.’ Thornhill was a founder member and past president of the group. He passed away in December.
The programme for the event includes an opening ceremony set for August 24 at 5pm. It will include cultural performances and the organisers will be honouring entities and individuals who have supported them over the years with certificates of appreciation.
On Saturday August 25 the exhibition will be open from 2pm. A fashion display will be held at 6.30pm and will include pieces made by the Garment Constructors (trainees from the Citizen Security Programme) and seamstresses and fashion designers from the community.
On Sunday August 26, the exhibition will be open at 2pm while an Evening of Song and Dance will be held from 6.30pm to 10pm to close the exhibition.
