By all means patrons were not left wanting as they witnessed good and exciting football from the two teams but in the end, the girls from Rupununi failed to deliver.

Scoring for Georgetown were Amanda Lashley and Nichola Leacock. Lashley scored in the 24th minute while Leacock scored in the 13th and 60th minutes.
At the culmination of the tournament Georgetown had amassed 10 points edging Rupununi by one point. Rupununi were unbeaten in the tournament up until yesterday’s match and a draw yesterday would have given them the title.
Georgetown entered yesterday’s key game on seven points and the three points for the win took them to 10.
In a pre-match interview, Rupununi Manager Brian Rodrigues said this tournament was a great opportunity for his players most of whom are in school.
It is not often that the players get the opportunity to play as a team because of the distances they would have to travel, he added. The girls, he said live in various villages in the Rupununi.
In preparation for the tournament, Rodrigues said that the players had some amount of practice time in the Rupununi and in the city.
