The visit of diplomats from the US, UK and Canadian missions to Linden which was set for today is off.
The trip for the diplomats to interface with residents of the town in the aftermath of the killing by police of three protesters two Wednesdays ago had been disclosed by Region 10 Chairman Sharma Solomon two days ago.
It is unclear why it is not occurring today however observers have pointed out that the government has not sent any high-ranking official to Linden since the deaths of the three and in that light the visit of the diplomats would have put it in awkward position. Sources say it is likely that the government would also have concerns over the planned visit by diplomats to the town which has closed itself off to traffic as it seeks to have several demands met by the government.
