BVI sprinter trying to rekindle confidence

LONDON, UK –  CMC– British Virgin Islands (BVI) top sprinter Tahesai Harrigan-Scott is seeking to rekindle her confidence as she prepares to run in the first round of the women’s 100m in the Olympics on August 3.

Harrigan-Scott has been trying to shrug off a disappointing race after competing in the Welsh International in Cardiff, Wales earlier this month.

She ran 12.03 in the women’s 100m and blamed her performance on poor weather including cold, damp, windy and rainy conditions.

“I felt good at the beginning of the race but the transition was awful and messed up the rest of my race,” said Harrigan-Scott, whose season has been affected by an injury.

“The wind was pretty strong but I wasn’t trying to think about it. The time wasn’t the best, but it’s a race before the Olympics,”

Harrigan-Scott, who was competing in only her second race since the Ponce Gran Prix in early May, says she plans to make some last minute adjustments to fine-tune her preparation for the Olympics.

“I just have to continue working on my weakness and make some changes before the next race.” Said Harrigan-Scott, a 100m semi-finalist at the Beijing Olympics.

Harrigan-Scott will be the BVI’s flag bearer during today’s opening ceremony.
