Linden protesters in stand-off over blockade

Members of the disciplined forces were today trying to remove blockades from various points leading into Linden as part of preparations for a planned visit by President Donald Ramotar to the tense town but protesters are opposing the move and insisting that the Head of State address them at the Kara Kara Bridge blockade.

More than a week after three men were killed after police opened fire on protesters in Linden, President Donald Ramotar has announced that he will today visit the mining town, where the army and police, acting on orders to clear barriers erected by residents, were facing resistance up to last evening.

Turkey urges steps as shelling of Aleppo continues

AMMAN/BEIRUT,  (Reuters) – President Bashar al-Assad’s artillery continued to pound rebel-held areas in and around Aleppo in preparation for an onslaught on Syria’s biggest city, while neigbouring Turkey called for international steps to deal with the military build-up.

Natural resources ministry aiding cut-off mining, logging camps

Natural Resources and the Environment Minister Robert Persaud yesterday met with representatives of the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association (GMSA) and the Forest Producers Association (FPA) yesterday to ensure operations continue at logging and mining camps in the interior, which have been almost cut off as a result of the continuing protest in Linden, in Region 10.

OCM gets approval from T&T for four radio stations

(Trinidad Express) The Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (TATT) has advised One Caribbean Media Ltd (OCM) that the TATT board of directors has approved the transfer of concessions and associated licences of four radio stations, including i95.5 FM, to an OCM subsidiary.
