Police on the East Bank of Demerara (EBD) are searching for four men who ransacked the home of a Grove Housing Scheme businessman on Saturday night and carted off cash, household items and several documents.
According to overseas-based Guyanese Ganesh Alexander, he and his family left the home, located at Lot 287, Section A, Block Y, Grove Housing Scheme at around 9pm on Saturday for the National Stadium where a show was being held. He said that when they returned home shortly after midnight, the locks to the grill at the front door were missing while the door was slightly ajar.
Alexander said that on entering the house he found it in a state of disarray with the two bedrooms ransacked. The man said that the thieves stole a briefcase containing an undisclosed amount of cash and several important documents including passports and other papers which he uses while travelling to the United States.
