Dear Editor,
The opening of the 30th Olympic Games in London 2012, I have to say was what I expected of the ceremony, and it was very satisfying. Bravo to the British organising committee.
A memorable moment to be treasured by me was to witness 7 billion small white pieces of paper dropping from a helicopter over the Olympic Stadium just after the Great Britain team entrance representing each of the 7 billion persons in the world.
The fun moments to my mind were to witness, the statue of Sir Winston Churchill waving towards the helicopter transporting Queen Elizabeth II in company of the current James Bond (Daniel Craig), the ‘Queen‘ parachuting, and Mr Bean as part of the choir during the playing of the theme song from the Oscar award winning movie, Chariots of Fire.
As much as some countries have been making global headlines in recent times, I was elated to witness their presence in the form of their respective sports ambassadors. I will forever keep the hope that through the Olympic Games, we will continue to make a greater effort for a healthier growth as we move forward as a global partnership in friendship.
Team Guyana: Bravo with your presence during the opening ceremony.
Yours faithfully,
T Pemberton
