The Paramakatoi, Region Eight community has welcomed the construction of a primary school as work moves apace on the $80.5M structure.
“Funding for the structure was made available through a grant from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) and, the Canadian Inter-national Development Agency (CIDA),” a press release from GINA said.
Donna Marks Lewis, a resident and support staff worker at the Paramakatoi secondary school said students will be much more comfortable when the structure is completed.
She was also hopeful that the school would be well equipped with teaching aids and other items on par with some of the city schools. Similar sentiments were shared by Patty D’Aguiar, a teacher at the Paramakatoi Primary School.
D’Aguiar said the new building will allow all classes to be held under one roof as currently they are held at two different locations, one of which is a church, causing much inconvenience.
Louelle Samuels, another support staff member at the secondary school, said she is happy about the construction as the other building was old, having been built some time ago by missionaries.
Residents are looking forward to a modern building affixed with amenities not previously available.
They are pleased that all classes will not be held in one building.
