A 24-year-old Pomeroon man was tied up and chopped to death on Sunday last after he was at a home consuming alcohol with a group of men and decided to leave with his generator that was supplying the house with electricity.
A police press release stated that they are investigating the murder of Terry Warren of Mango Creek, Pomeroon River, which occurred around 10 pm on Sunday last. The police have one man in custody assisting with investigations and the other suspects are said to be on the run.
The police said that their investigations have revealed so far that Warren and a group of men were imbibing at a home at Mango Creek when he decided to leave and take away his electrical generator. The release added that the move by Warren was not received well by the group of men who allegedly beat and chopped him about his body. The body is at the Suddie Hospital mortuary.
A resident in the Pomeroon area told Stabroek News that the men were drinking at another location before they headed to the home where one of them lived. The man added that after they went to that house the men were seen partying and an argument subsequently broke out and Warren was tied with an electrical cord and chopped several times about his body.
The man added that Warren’s body was discovered sometime around 8 am the following day in a semi-nude state with several gashes about his body. He added that police were summoned and only one man was arrested and taken to the Anna Regina Police Station and he was still in custody up to last night.
