Teen robbed woman at knifepoint

A teenager accused of robbing a woman at knifepoint of items totaling $187,000 in value was yesterday admitted to bail in the sum of $200,000 when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The allegation against Shem King is that on July 27 at Georgetown, being armed with a knife, he robbed Emma Browne of two cell phones, a shoulder bag and a quantity of cash totaling $187,000, property of the said Browne.

The 17-year-old porter was not required to plead to the indictable charge of robbery under arms when it was read to him by Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton.

The 684 East Ruimveldt resident was unrepresented by counsel but made an application to be admitted to bail.
No facts of what transpired on the day in question were presented to the court.

The prosecution had no objection to the defendant being granted his pretrial liberty  but requested that bail be set in a substantial sum.

King was subsequently placed on $200,000 bail and ordered to attend Court One on September 20 for report and fixture.
