A teenager accused of stealing two vehicle batteries was yesterday placed on $20,000 bail by Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The allegation against Trevor Samaroo, 17, is that on July 19, at Georgetown, he stole two truck batteries valued $22,000, and which was the property of Ramesh Samaroo.
No details of what is alleged to have transpired on the day in question were presented to the court, but Samaroo denied the simple larceny charge when it was read to him.
He was unrepresented by counsel and made a request for bail himself. He told the court that he was a fisherman and gave his address as 117 La Penitence Public Road, Georgetown.
The prosecution had no objections to Samaroo being granted his pre-trial liberty.
After bail was set, the matter was transferred to Court Six for August 7.
