(Jamaica Observer) KINGSTON, Jamaica – Usain Bolt defended his Olympic 100m title but admitted he was worried when the race started.
“I was slightly worried about my start, I slipped a little in the blocks. I don’t have the best reactions, but I secured it and that’s the key,” he revealed.
Although his start has been problematic, Bolt saidleading up to the final his coach, Glen Mills, calmed him.
“My coach told me to stop worrying about the start and concentrate on the end because that’s my best.”
The support he got from the crowd was great, he said, but knew it would be there.
“It was wonderful. I knew it was going to be like this. There wasn’t a doubt in my mind it was going to be like this.”
Bolt, spared a thought for his training partner, Yohan Blake, saying the 22-year-old works harder than he does and will do even better in the years to come.
“He works harder than me, but I knew what I needed to do and I have great talent. He will do better next time because he was a little bit stressed this time,” Bolt said of his training partner
