In Focus is the title of a new newspaper that was officially launched on Friday with over 10,000 copies printed for distribution free of cost to readers.
In Focus will be produced twice per month by a team of 10 persons headed by Akash Persaud, who is also the founder of the newspaper.
According to Persaud, the newspaper was in the making for over a year with the aim of creating a publication that will eschew hard news and controversial issues like everyday politics.
The focus is to create a newspaper that seeks to incorporate the positives that life has to offer instead of focusing on the downsides of life.
The paper comprises 24 pages, with 16 in full colour and 8 in black and white. Copies will be available for free distribution at various locations in Georgetown, including supermarkets and gas stations countrywide.
Areas being covered include features, artwork, photographs, entertainment, games, education, comic strips, Creole recipes and sports.
The next publication date is August 16 and according to Persaud efforts are being made to offer readers two issues per week. He also noted that based on demand attempts will be made to increase the number of copies printed.
