BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Leewards Islands took first innings lead over Windward Islands as their third match in the Regional Under-19 three-Championship petered out into a tame draw at the Desmond Haynes Oval yesterday.
After Tuesday’s complete washout, play got started at 11 am and the Windwards resuming on 25 without loss, were bundled out for 147.
Only captain Jerlani Robinson with a solid 46 showed any real resistance against the varied Leewards attack.
He struck three fours in an innings that consumed 93 balls and 104 minutes.
Gian Benjiman with 19, and Kenneth Dember 16, chipped in with small contributions.
Off-spinner Deno Baker was the most successful bowler finishing with three for 30 while fellow off-spinner Tristan Hanley and opening fast bowler Colin Archibald finished with two for 25.
When the match was called off at 5:15 pm with ten of the 15 mandatory overs remaining, the Leewards had reached 70 for five with Ashawn Tuitt top-scoring with 30 while Akeem Sanders was 27 not out.
Left-arm spinner Larry Edward finished with three for 23.
