Bosai Minerals Group (Guyana) in an appeal last evening called for “a period of peace and a return to work now,” in the wake of dire warnings from major customers signaling that they may have to find alternative materials due to the delay from here.
The company’s appeal was directed to their employees as well as all stakeholders, including the Government of Guyana, Leader of the Opposition, Leader of the Alliance For Change (AFC), Regional Chairman, Region 10, and others, according to a press release last evening from Company Secretary, Major-General (ret’d) Norman McLean.
He said further that since Bosai Minerals Group (Guyana) Inc. (BMGG) has lost 20,000mt RASC production in the past month and the company has had to postpone all deliveries in the rest of the year, it has received correspondence from some major customers that they will be “forced to plan to use alternative materials due to the delay from Guyana.”
“They also warned that we “should be aware that often processes to change refractory formulations can be irreversible once started,” the BMGG company secretary noted.
He also cautioned that it has happened here before in the past at GUYMINE.
“We lost big time from over 80% of the world market of calcined bauxite. We are returning to about 25% to 30% of the world market and we trust that nobody in our country wants to see this happen again.”
“We appeal to everybody to give Bosai’s employees who continue to provide reliable electricity, the opportunity to return to work and save our industry and our future,” McClean urged.
He added: ”Do not destroy the good of Linden. Let us work and let this be a return to some semblance of Order, Civility and Peace. Help us to return to our jobs.”
