The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport/National Sports Commission has expressed heartfelt condolences to the immediate and extended families of the late Orin Belle, the community of Bartica and the sport fraternity.
A press release from the ministry described the late Belle as “one of power boat’s most admired racers.”
Belle, of Bartica, died on Sunday whilst participating in the annual Mainstay Regatta when his boat `Orin Charlie’, collided with another boat resulting in his death.
“Orin Belle, like his family, cannot be separated from powerboat racing and has been an outstanding performer where and when he participated in such activities,” said the ministry’s release adding that the news of Belle’s death resulted in shocks and surprise throughout the sports community and especially the powerboat racers, fans and organisers.
“His passion and commitment to the sport must be remembered by all and sundry. His performances must be lasting examples and a memorial for everyone.
“May his soul rest in peace,” ended the release.
