Dear Editor,
Corruption and mismanagement were blamed as the reasons why Nigeria‘s athletes did not get even one medal at the recent Olympic Games held in London this summer.
This begs the question as to why Guyanese athletes did not perform well enough to even earn half a bronze one. Many athletes I know are mumbling under their breaths looking over their shoulders whispering, that certain senior sport officials should resign and give way to someone who can inspire our youth with their athletic prowess to win a medal – at least a bronze – at the next Olympics. The possibility does exist, if mismanagement is wiped out of our society and sports.
