A spectacular production is promised for the hosting of what will be the tenth anniversary of the Miss Guyana Universe pageant this year under franchise holder McNeal Enterprises.
At the launching last Sunday during a cocktail reception at the Hotel Tower poolside, Head of McNeal Enterprises, Odinga Lumumba, commented on how special this year is. “Image is important, and we are putting pressure on the girls… to be all that they can be. We welcome sponsors and ideas to come forth and make this event a winner,” he said. Lumumba also pointed out that there will be special guests to celebrate the event.

It was revealed that 14 contestants have been entered for the pageant; however only 11 were introduced at the launch to the media, potential sponsors and designers.
Kara Lord, the reigning queen Miss Guyana Universe mentioned how pleased she was to see what Guyana has to offer. She encouraged the contestants to be themselves, do their best and have fun. She then urged Guyana to support the pageant because it is a platform to exhibit what we have. “I want to encourage you all to make the investment in these ladies and this country and we have to show our love and support,” she added.
It was announced that the sashing of contestants will be on August 26 at Palm Court before the Swim Suit Finals on September 9 and the Question and Answer Segment on September 13 at National Communication Network. The date of the pageant was not announced.
