CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque has expressed the Community’s deep sadness at the loss of life and property during the recent floods in Trinidad and Tobago.
In a message to the government, the Secretary-General also extended deepest sympathies to the families of those who died in the floods, said a press release from the CARICOM Secretariat at Turkeyen.
“The Caribbean Community is deeply saddened by the loss of life and the trail of devastation left by massive flooding on the western peninsula of Trinidad in particular and other areas of Trinidad and Tobago,” the message said.
LaRocque also said that the Community has extended its deepest sympathies to the families who have lost loved ones as they go through this time of mourning. “The Community shares the concerns of the families of those who have been displaced by the deluge and of those who remain missing at this time. We pray that they are found safe and sound.”

The courage and resilient spirit of the people of Trinidad and Tobago shall surely assist in withstanding and overcoming the challenges of this most trying time,” the message concluded.
