Gandhi Youth Organization (GYO) yesterday easily defeated a depleted Ace Warriors side on home turf by 153 runs and there were wins as well for Malteenoes and Transports Sports Club `A’ on day three of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) David Persaud Investments Cup Under-19 cricket tournament.
At the GYO ground, a 150-run opening partnership between Loakesh Persaud and Shivanand Roopnarine who each made 71 saw GYO to 258 all out in 43 overs.
Persaud struck four fours and two sixes while Roopnarine blasted eight fours and three sixes.
However, following that partnership, the innings lost momentum as only Ryan Shun (27) offered resistance.
Tramane Clarke took four wickets and Maurice Gibson three for Ace Warriors who struggled to 105 for 7 when their innings ended as they played with only nine men. O Leigh made 32 with four sixes while M. Gibson struck a six and four fours in making 23.
Garfield De Roach finished with figures of 5-0-45-3 and Navendra Seeraj 5-0-26-3.
At the Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) ground, a good team batting performance from Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) enabled them to post 273 in 52 overs leading to a mammoth 173-run victory over DCC `B’.
Kareem Naughton top scored with 59 with five sixes and two fours while Steven Sankar added 47 with three sixes and two fours. Nicosie Barker made 35 and Jamal Naughton 37.

At Camp Road, an fine all-round performance from Transport Sports Club `A’ team player Joshua Ram enabled them to a three-wicket win over Everest Cricket Club. Everest batted first and scored 135 all out in 29.4 overs as only Chris Surat (37) and Surendra Hiralall (44) showed resistance to Ram who took 7 for 49. TSC `A’ reached 139 for 7 in 20 overs.
