Indian science exhibition promises to be fun filled

The Indian Science Exhibi-tion which is scheduled to open at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall today will showcase Indian ancient science and technology and the progress that India has made as it relates to science.

The event promises to be fun filled as persons will have the opportunity to discover science and learn from the exhibits, the Government Information Agency (GINA) reported.

Touch screen televisions will be there so that persons can access information, science models will also be available, and there will also be a quiz centre  to increase visitors’ awareness of science and technology.

In addition, there will be many areas of science that children will come to know such as biotechnology, space and nuclear science.

This collaborative venture between the Governments of India and Guyana is expected to provide the Guyanese public with an overview of over 7,000 years of science achievements in that country.

During a visit to the venue on Friday,  Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, Permanent Secretary, Alfred King said that the ministry was  pleased to be associated with the exhibition, noting that it will contribute to development generally, by motivating students to become involved in science, technology and mathematics.

He further explained that having to recognise the importance of and value of the exhibition which was last hosted in Trinidad and Tobago, the government thought it best to have it in Guyana. King noted that the ministry would have put in a lot of resources and would have partnered with a number of agencies such as, the Institute of Applied Science and Technology (IAST), National Centre for Education Resource Development (NCERD), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Guyana Learning Channel, to make the exhibition possible.
