Reunion Manganese Inc. recently sponsored a medical team from the United States to conduct clinics in Guyana and they treated some 141 persons at Baramita and 121 at Matthews Ridge in the North West District.
The team comprised two doctors, three nurses and four students from the United States, a press release from Reunion Manganese Inc. said on Thursday.
The team travelled to Matthews Ridge last Monday and conducted clinics at the Matthews Ridge Hospital and Baramita Outpost over three days.
Leading the delegation was Dr Collie Oudkerk, a Guyanese who works at Brookdale Medical Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, United States.
The visitors come from the Health and Educational Relief Organisation Inc. (HERO) at least three times per year to do medical and surgical work in communities such as Matthews Ridge and Baramita, North West District.
They provided their own supplies which were very helpful for the purpose and they are looking forward to more visits to areas like Arakaka as well, the release added.
