A beverage vendor was yesterday charged with assaulting his common-law wife.
Alex Barker, 32, of 189 Spurwing Drive, South Ruimveldt denied the charge when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court. He was granted $10,000 bail.
It was alleged that on August 18, Barker unlawfully assaulted Yonette Azore.
Barker, who was unrepresented, applied for bail. The prosecution had no objections to bail, but noted that Barker and Azore reside at the same address. As a result, in setting bail, Magistrate Octive-Hamilton advised the two that they must have nothing to do with each other, pending the determination of the matter.
No details of the offence were presented to the court.
The case will be called again at Court One on September 28.
