A mother of four accused of stealing another woman’s handbag containing items valued at $22,500 was yesterday placed on $15,000 bail when she appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton.
The allegation against Shemaine Smith is that on August 16 at Regent Street, she stole one handbag containing a cell phone, $15,000 and one spectacles case, all totaling $22,500; property of Ciciley Scott.
The 35-year-old woman pleaded not guilty to the simple larceny charge when it was read to her at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The prosecution had no objection to counsel’s bail application.
