Dear Editor,
Allow me to congratulate NCN for initiating a debate series on corruption, beginning with the Amaila Falls allegations on Sunday, August 19. I was a bit doubtful as to whether such a programme would have had a balanced panel. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the choice of debaters from both the government and opposition,
In addition to the President of the Guyana Manufacturers Association. It was conducted in a spirit of cordiality which augurs well for the relationship in Parliament and us the electorate. I would make two recommendations: First, the comments or feedback via e-mail and facebook could impinge on the debate’s time. Do not refer to the comments in the debate, but allow the respective persons to post their replies which could be screened separately and not during the debate.
Secondly, I feel that the Chairman of the Private Sector Commission could have been included to give balance along with the President of the GMA.
All in all congratulations to all the participants, and of course the moderator, Al Creighton, who did a fine job of holding the debate together.
Yours faithfully,
V O Patrick
