Two car wash attendants who were jointly charged for allegedly stealing a motor vehicle tray cover valued $100,000 were placed on $80,000 bail each yesterday.
Sheldon Gonsalves, age 25 of 106 Freeman Street, East La Penitence, and 19-year-old Ronato Pollard, called ‘School boy’, of 33 Meadowbrook Gardens appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton yesterday in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court to answer the charge of simple larceny.
The duo was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on August 18 at Georgetown, they stole one motor vehicle tray cover valued $100,000, property of Cyrin Matthews.
The duo was unrepresented by counsel. They made applications to the court for reasonable bail and the prosecution had no objection but requested that it be granted in a substantial sum.
The magistrate, after hearing the case, granted the duo $80,000 bail each.
Gonsalves and Pollard are scheduled to return to Court One at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on October 1.
