A Rupununi man allegedly found with eight grammes of cannabis in his possession was placed on $60,000 bail when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton yesterday in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Accused was 26-year-old Ronaldo Cupertino, who denied the August 16 charge, which stated that he had in his possession eight grammes of cannabis at Moco Moco, Rupununi District, where he resides.
The miner/labourer was represented by attorney Paul Fung-A-Fat who applied to the court on his behalf for reasonable bail.
The prosecution had no objection to the bail application, but requested that it be set at a substantial sum.
After hearing the case the magistrate announced that bail would be granted in the sum of $60,000.
Cupertino’s next appearance will be on September 20 for report and fixture in Court One of the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
