A high level delegation from Russia’s fourth largest city, Ekaterinburg, paid a courtesy call on President Donald Ramotar on Tuesday in an ongoing campaign to promote the city’s candidacy to host the World Universal Exposition EXPO 2020, the Government Information Agency (GINA) reported.
Russia’s bid included hosting of the event for six months – May 1 to October 31, 2020 – under the theme “Global Mind: Uniting All Humanity in a Single Conversation.”
Ekaterinburg is a major Eurasian transportation hub, industrial and business centre that in recent years hosted several major domestic and international events. It is also a leading cultural, educational and scientific centre.
The team headed by Assistant Chairman of the Ekaterinburg Expo 2020 Bid Committee, Daniil Shukhman included Russian Ambassador to Guyana Nikolay Smirnov, Vice Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Arkady Dvorkovich, Public Relations Advisor of Ekaterinburg Alexander Chernov, and Deputy Director General of International Relations Andrey Nevskiy.
