Dear Editor,
I see only glowing tributes paid to the deceased Laurie Lewis. It is understandable one wants to be generous in praise to the dead, but society is being denied the truth when only one side is revealed to the public on a person’s life. We are doing the nation a disservice in not being truthful in how people view and feel about public officials who passed on. I doubt any victims of Forbes Burnham’s misrule and Laurie Lewis will agree with the encomiums on Lewis. We need to have both sides of peoples’ experiences of public officials, not only from those who had positive experiences. Those who suffered when he was active in the police force should also have their stories told.
Yours faithfully,
Vishnu Bisram
