A mechanic was placed on $100,000 bail when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton yesterday in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court for allegedly breaking and entering a house and stealing a quantity of cash, an equalizer and amplifier, totaling $253,762 in value.
Kevin Ketwaroo was not required to plead to the August 15 charge which alleged that he broke and entered the dwelling house of Frederick Booker and stole therein one equalizer, an amplifier, and a quantity of cash, all amounting to $253,762, property of the said Frederick Booker.
No facts of what transpired on the day in question were related to the court.
Ketwaroo, 22, of Lot 459 Grove Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, was unrepresented by counsel but he requested bail and the prosecution had no objection.
After hearing the case the magistrate granted the defendant $100,000 bail.
The matter was transferred to the Providence Magistrates’ Court for October 16.
