Two other persons said to be the prime suspects in the murder of 49-year-old Kumar Singh, a joiner of No. 79 Village, Corriverton were arrested yesterday.
Singh’s body was discovered on his bedroom floor with his feet protruding into the living room. A towel which had blood stains was covering his face.
The man’s cousin who lived in a separate apartment from Singh but shared the same washroom observed that Singh’s door had been broken open and started shouting for him. He also made several calls to his cell phone but got no response.
The cousin who works at sea and had just returned home then alerted the man’s nephew, Akash Persaud that something was amiss.
Persaud rushed over to the scene and made the startling discovery. He then informed an uncle who contacted the police.
Police sources had told this newspaper that some other men from the village who were last seen with Singh were “on the run” and were being sought. They confirmed last evening that two of the men were in custody.
Relatives believe that Singh who was seen in his yard on Monday evening with the men, considered to be “junkies” was robbed and then murdered during the night. His wallet containing local and US currency along with his cellular phone was missing.
