With the Linden pact sealed and the return of some normalcy to the town, it will take at least a month for the National Community Basketball League (NCBL) to resume and conclude.
The NCBL had to be postponed until further notice owing to the ongoing protests in Linden as players were unable to move around and train in the mining town.
However, with the newly-signed pact between the government and the Region 10 leadership, organizers of the NCBL have declared that they will need at least a month before resuming the league that has been dragged out.
“There are a lot of things that we need to consider but we will need at least a month before we resume because some of the teams need to train and other things we need to put in place but the tournament will conclude,” Kwame Mentor, an organizer of the tournament stated.
One of the big issues for the league will be a venue for the semis and finals since the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) is holding a science exhibition that will last until September.
“Well the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall is holding a science fair and that will not end until sometime in September or October and we will have to look at the possibility of finishing it in Linden or Burnham Court but Burnham will be expensive because we will have to rent lights and that kind of stuff…so we still have things to sort out,” Mentor said.
Meanwhile he stated that they are expecting to conclude the tournament sometime in November.
“We are looking at November to finish it off, we just have to consider some stuff but the tournament will conclude and will start planning for next year,” Mentor said.
