The Sunrise Cricket Club (SCC) of New York will return here on a cricket tour from September 26th to October 3rd after a four-year sabbatical.
The touring team of 16 will begin their one-week tour with lots of cricketing activities involving different local cricket clubs.
During this stay, the team will engage longstanding local cricket teams, with an eye towards fostering new relationships with the clubs.
In the opening match, the visiting team will take on Jai-Hand Cricket Club of Albion, followed by Windsor Forest Cricket Club then Sterling Products LLC.
In its final match SCC will play against a combination of Georgetown Secondary School teams in a T/20 affair.
The SCC has organized this tour to reaffirm its commitment to continue building on its rich tradition of cricket tours to Guyana.
Over the years, the club has seen overwhelming support from local fans in and out of Guyana.
Although the tour is spread over just seven days, fans in Berbice, Georgetown and East and West Bank Demerara are very excited to see their lads in all their glory representing their country.
Meanwhile, overseas-based member Sunil Ballie stated that the team will set aside a day of volunteering at a local charity.
The team is scheduled to arrive via EZJet airline.
Leading the Sunrise cricket organization for this tour is club’s new Vice President, 25-year-old Joshua “Josh” Harbajan.
