The University of Guyana (UG) yesterday announced that it has postponed the start of classes for the new academic year, saying that industrial unrest earlier in the year was among the factors that influenced the decision.
Classes were expected to resume on Monday but the UG administration yesterday announced that it had decided to officially begin classes for the 2012-2013 academic year on September 10. “…After due consideration of the delays which were occasioned by the industrial action during the 2011-2012 academic year, the consequential effects and other factors including the recent release of results by CXC, it was decided to postpone the commencement of the 2012-2013 classes from August 27, 2012, to September 10, 2012,” it said in a statement
