The US Embassy says a team of water purification specialists under the Florida Army National Guard conducted an assessment of water purification systems, equipment status and operations to assist the GDF to draft a plan that can be used to direct future resources.
In a press release the Embassy said the assessment was held from July 30 to August 3 and the team focused on how Guyana could improve its water purification practices in remote bases. The team developed recommendations for modification of processes and equipment in order to mitigate the health threats affecting troops along the Guyana border and bolster their individual and collective readiness in counter narcotics and other security operations.
The Army National Guard reviewed preventative water safety measures, survival tactics and effectively managing water supply systems at three GDF bases including the Jungle Warfare Centre. The team also assessed water sources and systems to provide insight for advanced purification methods in future operations.
