Police today said that investigations are being conducted into a fire of so far unknown origin that occurred at about 1115h today which resulted in the destruction of a wooden house at Breda Street, Georgetown, and the death of a man.
The man has been identified only by the surname Brumell, known as `Peppy’, and aged about 65 years.
Police said that the fire was seen by neighbouring residents who formed a bucket brigade and was also responded to by Fire Service personnel. The charred remains of the victim were found among the debris.
