(Jamaica Gleaner) The community of Central Village, St Catherine is now tense following a midnight attack that left three people dead and two hospitalised with gunshot injuries.
Those killed are: a man known as Daniel of Big Lane Central Village, St Catherine and brothers Craig Cayman, 28, and Shane Cayman, 23.
It is reported that about midnight, the three were among family members at home when a group of heavily armed men started to spray the house with bullets.
Checks later revealed that five persons were shot.
The Cayman brothers and the other man died while two other people were hospitalised.
No motive has been established for the incident, however, the police say the Cayman brothers were the targets.
When The Gleaner visited the community, the people complained that the police presence are not enough to make them feel secure.
“We want them to patrol the area and prevent the gathering on the corner. We want them to stop play around and do the work professionally,” said a community member who asked not to be named.
Councillor for the Twickenham Division, Donovan Guy was also concerned.
“I think that the police need to be more vigilant in the community for it is known that the area is tense,” he said.
Guy who has been representing the division since 1998, said the incident has now intensified the. worry in Central Village.
The St Catherine Major Investigation Task Force is probing the matter.
