A labourer who appeared on Friday to face a knifepoint robbery charge in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court was placed on $150,000 bail by Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton.
Kevin Rodney, 19, of 6A Water Street, South Cummingsburg, was not required to plead to the indictable charge of robbery under arms which stated that on August 22, while being armed with a knife, he robbed Kierra Pipples of one BlackBerry cell phone, a Kodak camera and $3,000, totaling $81,000 in value, property of the said Pipples.
Rodney, unrepresented by counsel, applied to the court for bail.
The prosecution objected to bail, telling the court that the camera was found in his pants pocket when a search was carried out on his person.
However, the magistrate after hearing the case granted Rodney bail in the sum of $150,000.
He has to return on October 5 to Court One of the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court for report
and fixture.
