Female players Joann Deo and Christine Sukram copped the first and third places when the Unique Group Auto Dealer golf tournament took place at the Lusignan Golf Club last Saturday.
Deo captured the event with a net 69 while Sukhram placed third with a net 70. Second place went to former president of the LGC Brian Hackett who also ended with a net 70.
Sukhram was the Closest to the Pin winner while the player with the best gross was former club captain Patrick Prashad.
The tournament ushers in a string of very important golf tournaments which will climax with the Guyana Open over the next few months.
This Saturday the players will compete in the Demerara Distillers Limited golf tournament while the President’s Golf Cup sponsored by His Excellency Donald Ramotar, the Courts sponsored tournament along with the previously mentioned Guyana Open will keep the players active over the next few months.
At the end of September, a large group will travel to Suriname to play in Paramaribo club’s invitational tournament.
Meanwhile, following Saturday’s event Club Secretary David Mohammed thanked the Unique Group for sponsoring the event while Club Captain Rawle Moore urged more female players to come out and play.
