Office of the President mourns Greene’s passing

The Office of the President this afternoon offered condolences on the passing of former Police Commissioner, Henry Greene today.

The statement follows.

“The Office of the President expresses condolence to the family, relatives and friends of  Former Commissioner of Police, Henry Greene, DSM., who died today as a result of an accident.

“Greene held a long and distinguished career as a public servant, most of which he spent as a member of the Guyana Police Force. His service to the nation beyond his retirement was testimony to his selflessness and unwavering commitment and dedication to policing.

“As Commissioner of Police he was responsible for the leadership and development of the force and during his career, security of the people of Guyana was as a primary preoccupation of his, as demonstrated in his tireless efforts to introduce and promote new and innovative ways of crime fighting.

“Greene’s contribution to the nation, especially in security will always be remembered.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, children, other relatives and friends. As much as you miss him, so too will this nation which he served so faithfully.”
